Happy New Year from the FAN Club

Spring Ridge FAN Club Welcomes - The Common Market

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 7:00 pm at the Spring Ridge Visitor’s Center. We have a special guest speaker for our April Social, from The Common Market of Frederick, Zoë Brittain, Education & Outreach Administrator. The Common Market is a Consumer cooperative, where individual owners purchase a share of the business, and receive discounts on products purchased.

Zoë will explain the advantages of The Common Market, and inform us about the Natural organics found at there, including grass fed beef and organic local produce. She will have some sample products to take home and brochures with more information.  The Common Market offers a variety of foods for allergy specific diets and for children with sensitivity to certain foods. They carry a wide variety of vitamin supplements, natural medications, and herbs, including herbal teas. These and the many other benefits of The Common Market will be discussed.

This should be a very informative meeting and a great way to meet other friends and neighbors from Spring Ridge.  Hope to see you there!  See us on-line at springridgeonline.com and click on the link to Clubs.

The FAN Club March meeting highlighted spring fashions from Talbot’s.  Pictured are, left to right:  Talbot’s representative, Barbara Boga Rosh with FAN Club models Jean Wright, Julie Biglari and Vicki Lagdon.

FAN Club Then and Now

Fourteen years ago, when Spring Ridge was still a young community, a group of neighbors came together to form what has become the Spring Ridge Friends and Neighbors (FAN) Club.  Based on a newcomers type organization, the club was an opportunity for new neighbors to meet others in the community.  Neighbors in “Phase 1” could meet neighbors from “Phase II” at monthly get-togethers at the Visitor’s Center.

As the club grew, those with specific interests like reading books, forming playgroups, going out to dinner, traveling, etc. found friendship and fun in our “interest groups”.  We’ve even had special themed events on a larger scale like the formal Titanic Dinner, FAN Club Goes to Hollywood, a 70’s Retro Party, Murder Mystery Dinners and more.  Community Service has also become a big part of the FAN Club’s activities in recent years.  Whether it’s packing backpacks for needy students at Spring Ridge Elementary or cleaning up Spring Ridge Parkway, FAN Club members have been an integral part of the Spring Ridge community.

We welcome new members who may have lived here many years as well as newcomers to the neighborhood.  Join us at one of our regular monthly socials at the Visitor’s Center.  Bring a friend or just come on your own.  We will introduce you to a lot of fun people who you may never have had the opportunity to meet.  Our meeting schedule is as follows:
