Board of Director’s Corner
Meeting: April 18th at 7pm in VC

  • Due to very dry conditions, we ask residents to use caution when disposing of smoking materials.  We have already had one fire in the median that was caused by a cigarette that started a mulch fire.
  • Residents, please secure your recycling materials, as there have been incidents due to the high winds, that newspapers placed for recycle were spread throughout the community.  Lids for recycling bins are available for $4.00 and extra bins for $6.00 from the Frederick County Recycling Office (301-696-2960).  Additional information is available by telephone or the Frederick County website, http://www.co.frederick.md.us/Recycling.
  • The Board is considering changing the late fee structure on the monthly assessments, going from a percentage basis to a $5.00 flat fee.  Please give us your comments on this.

Daylight Savings

This is just a reminder to everyone that Daylight Savings Time Begins Sunday, April 2nd.  Please remember to set your clocks one (1) hour ahead the night before, on Saturday, April 1st.  Also, check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to see that they are working properly, and if needed, install new batteries in them.

Yard Waste Recycling

For Single Family and Town Homes:
Yard waste and grass clippings pickup will occur on Wednesdays from April through November only. Grass and other yard clippings can be placed in paper bags, kraft bags, or loose in uncontaminated containers.  The trash hauler cannot/will not take grass/yard waste in plastic bags. No sod will be allowed. 4" diameter branches may be bundled with cord and recycled as well, as long at the bundle does not exceed 4' in length.

All yard waste and grass clippings will be recycled which helps our environment and saves the association in landfill dumping fees. Should you have any questions, contact the management office at 301-620-0782.

Solicitors

Management would like to provide the following information to residents regarding solicitors/solicitation:

  • Spring Ridge has a No Solicitation policy.  There are “No Solicitation” signs at both entrances of the community.
  • Solicitors who go to homes door to door sometimes state they have a permit to solicit on the property.  Please note that this information is false.  Permits are not issued for solicitation in Spring Ridge because the community is considered private property.
  • From Monday - Friday (except on a holiday) if a solicitor comes to your door, please tell them there is No Soliciting in Spring Ridge.  Then, immediately call Management in the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782 (Be sure to include the street where the solicitor was seen, if you can, provide a description of the person (s) soliciting, and any other information that could be helpful (examples: vehicle license plate info.,business card of person soliciting, phone number and contact information for the company that is soliciting).
  • On Saturday and Sunday, and any holiday, please call the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office at 301-694-1046.
  • In an emergency, where a solicitor would become violent or dangerous, call 911.

Recreation Committee News

This year’s spring Community Yard Sale has been changed to Saturday, June 3rd!  Look for more information in May’s newsletter.

Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered your time to assist with T-Ball this spring.  We are still very short on coaches, and we are still in need of a chairperson.  Please come by the Recreation Committee Meeting on Monday, April 10th at the Visitor Center, to pre-register your child for T-Ball instruction and to volunteer to help.  You will be able to register between 7pm and 8:30pm.. The registration fee is $10.00.  We will be having a brief volunteer meeting at 8pm, so the coaches are ready to begin instruction on April 29th.

The Spring Ridge Easter Egg Hunt is planned for Saturday, April 8th from 11am - 1pm at the soccer field.  The hunt will begin precisely at 11:15am.  Please drop one (1) dozen EMPTY eggs per child, along with the sign up slip below beginning Monday, March 20th and ending Thursday, April 6th.  We will need to know the age and name of each child participating at this event.  Upon arriving for the hunt you will need to check in at the picnic tables by the playground for a special treat.

Due to rising insurance costs, we will not be having the petting zoo this year.  We would like to thank Mossburg’s for their past participation.  After the hunt, the children will be able to make a craft to take home.  Remember to bring your camera.  The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email Heidi Hambrecht at hhambrecht@yahoo.com.

Please join us at the next Recreation Committee Meeting on Monday, April 10th at 7pm in the Visitor Center.
