Required
By Frederick County
Frederick County requires all cats and dogs to be licensed. According
to Frederick County Animal Control Ordinance, Division 2 Section 1-5-33:
“No person shall own or have custody of any dog or cat over six
(6) months of age unless such dog/cat is licensed as herein provided,
and has been vaccinated against rabies in a procedure approved by the
Maryland Public Health Veterinarian. Proof of rabies vaccination shall
be given to the seller of dog and cat licenses.”
*For your convenience
you may purchase your dog/cat license at the Visitor Center.
ADS Schedule
ADS may from time to time change their routes and pick up schedule. It
would be advisable that the homeowners put their trash out the evening
before, after 6 p.m., to avoid not having their trash picked up the following
morning.
“The
Law”
As you may know, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has jurisdiction
over Spring Ridge. When there is a crime being committed such as soliciting,
noisy parties, illegally parked vehicles on county roads, or any suspicious
vehicle please call the Sheriff’s office first and then notify management.
The Sheriff’s office has the ability to remedy the problem quickly
in most cases. The Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number is
301-694-1046.
Crime Prevention Tip
of the Month: With the hot summer we have been experiencing, drivers and
passengers may be leaving their windows rolled down in their vehicles.
Be sure to roll up those windows and keep your doors locked! An open window
in a vehicle may lead to theft of radios, cell phones, and even theft
of the vehicle itself. Don’t be a victim of a crime that can be
easily prevented.
Board of Directors
Corner
1) The Board has given approval to Boy Scout Troop 371's project to stencil
the storm drains in Spring Ridge, indicating that they are part of the
Chesapeake Bay's drainage. We appreciate them undertaking this extensive
environmental project.
2) A reminder, pool
passes are not transferable, they are for Spring Ridge residents only.
Individuals using a guest pass must be accompanied by a Spring Ridge resident.
3) The Volunteer Appreciation
party went off without a hitch on June 27th. Thanks once again to all
those who volunteered in 2001 and 2002.
Blood Drive
Time
Blood supplies nationwide have reached critically low levels, with less
than one day’s supply of several blood types. Thousands of accident
victims, cancer patients, premature babies and countless others who need
blood to stay alive are hoping you'll care enough to help them. All blood
types are needed. Come give blood at the Visitor Center on September 23,
2002 from 1-7pm. Please contact Brenda at 301-620-0782 if you are interested
in donating to schedule your appointment. Thank you.

to be included needs to fill out the form on page. 5 of this newsletter.
If you are already listed in the directory, but have changes, please notify
management via e-mail at brenda.mm@pmpbiz.com or other written correspondence.
NO CHANGES? Do nothing. However, those interested in keeping their name
and phone number listed on the helper list must submit the form. The forms
must be submitted by December 1, 2002 to be included.
ADVERTISING: Residents
who are interested in advertising in the 2003 Directory should contact
the management office at 301-620-0782 and leave a name, mailing address
and number. Please keep your eyes on the upcoming newsletters for information
and updates.
Landscaping
Treatments
STM
will have 4 more applications this Summer and Fall: one in September,
November and December 2002. Most of the treatments will be fertilization
rather than herbicidal treatments. There will be one broadleaf weed control
application in October. Treated areas will be posted with signs throughout
the property. These areas should not be walked upon by the homeowners
or pets until the treatment has dried.

to miss them!! They are August 12th and August 26th from 6:30 to 8:30
PM. These are great times to relax at the pool with your favorite float,
read a book, or bring your BONKO group. MOM/DAD - You need a night out!
Why don't you join us on August 12th and August 26th?
TEEN PARTY- Calling All Teens! It's your turn to PAAARRRTY! The second
annual teen party will be held on August 17th from 8:30 until 11 PM for
ages 11 - 17. The enclosed admission slip must be presented; no one will
be admitted wihout it. Admission is $5.00. Music will be provided by Silver

PARKING-
Just a reminder..... As parking is very busy at the pool, please remember
that there are two bike racks available for your convenience. And please,
NO parking along the curbs whereas it causes congestion and potential
danger. The parking lot is often filled to the limit with young children
and parents walking to their cars.... please SLOW DOWN!
NEW MEMBERS NEEDED- Get wet with us!! Yes, we are an active, vibrant pool
committee. We would appreciate having more members to join our committee
so that we can maintain our status as the best pool group in the county.
Incidently, you don't even have to know how to swim to join. Meetings
are held the 1st Monday of the month from 5-7pm at the Visitor Center.
FAMILY PARTY - All those who attended the Family Party on Sunday July
21st had more fun than they imagined! Food was available for residents
to purchase and a DJ was on hand for everyone’s enjoyment. Once
again, the kids’ coin dive was a huge success! The limbo and relay
races were also big hits this year. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the
following local businesses who donated certificates and merchandise for
our door prizes: Spring Ridge Photo, Paul's Ice Cream and Coffee Gourmet,
Spring Ridge Cleaners Exxon, Weis Market, J & P's Pizza Restaurant,
Blockbuster Video, Spring Ridge Salon and Spring Ridge Liquor.
SCUBA-
The Brass Anchor SCUBA Center completed two "Discover SCUBA"
sessions for residents of Spring Ridge. They are definitely a "Class
Act". We thank them for coming with all the equipment, professional
dive masters, and stellar attitude in giving us this experience You can
still sign up for their course which will take place every Monday and
Tuesday night for five weeks from 6:30 - 8:30 beginning July 29th. Classroom
time will be held at the Brass Anchor on E. Church St. and pool time will
be here at Spring Ridge. Cost for the course is $299. plus fins, snorkel
and masks. Call or stop by the Visitors Center if interested
POOL TOUR- Miss Amy's
Day Care Center had an educational and enjoyable experience seeing how
the pools operate. Valissa, Assn't Mgr. at the pool, demonstrated for
the children how the chlorine and Ph levels in the pool are tested. She
also let them see the vacuum system and pumps that keep the pools sparkling
clean. Questions about duties of the lifeguards were answered. Next year
we hope tours can be expanded for youth groups.
POOL PASS NO-NO’S-
Homeowners may not lend their pool passes or guest passes to non residents
to use. The SR pool is intended for SR residents and their guests ONLY.
Guests without a full-time resident accompanying them will not gain access
in the pool. Also, delinquent homeowners who have their pool privileges
revoked should not be brought into the pool as a guest of another homeowner.
All parties involved in violating this notice is subject to revoked pool
pass privileges for the remainder of the season.
Please
be aware of the drought in Frederick County. Help conserve water by taking
shorter showers and keeping an eye on your children in the bathrooms.
If you see children playing in the showers– speak up or at least
tell a guard.
Please check Lost and Found if you have lost anything at the pool.
Check the pool bulletin board so you can keep up on pool events.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for the pool committee please submit
them in writing to the Visitor Center.
Swim tests are still being given daily by the guards. If your child hasn’t
passed his/her swim test and received their bracelet see one of the guards
and ask what you need to do in order for your child to become a “swimmer”.
