Directory
Help
Please volunteer your time to assist management with the massive task
of delivering copies of the directory to all the homeowners in Spring
Ridge. The condominium associations have building captains to deliver
about 310 of the 1750 ordered, but we need help with the other 1440. Traditionally,
we have relied on street captains, but many of them have moved or decided
not to volunteer any more. We also have many new areas that do not have
volunteers since the homeowners are so new to Spring Ridge.
Here is what we are
asking. If you are able to volunteer for a few streets (or just yours)
in your area or even anywhere in the community, call the Visitor Center.
We encourage scout troops to volunteer their time. We will divide up the
community as evenly as we can. They will likely be ready in late December
or early January for delivery.
Your help with the
delivery of the annual directory is appreciated. Please call 301-620-0782.
Christmas
Tree Removal
(Single Family and Townhomes Only)
The Christmas tree
removal program for this year is new and improved! Here is how it will
work this season. During the month of January 2003 all you have to do
is take your Christmas tree out to the curb side on Tuesday evenings.
On each Wednesday during January, the Christmas trees will be picked up
at curbside and taken to the recycling center. Any questions, please call
PMP at 301-620-0782.
All Condo’s
will have their own designated areas.

The Board of Directors Corner
MEETING
December 17, 2002 at 7:00pm at the Visitor Center
The board thanks all
those who volunteered on the many committees that make Spring Ridge the
excellent community it is. Without your efforts it would not get done.
Best Wishes this Holiday Season.
Caroling
For Cans
You’ve
heard of singing for your supper but this holiday season, local teens
throughout Spring Ridge will be caroling for cans. On Friday, December
20th, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. these singers, affiliated with FCPS Advanced
Music Studies and the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra, will begin at
Weis Markets and make their musical way through the community singing
holiday selections and accepting food and cash donations from residents
to support the Frederick Food Bank. Spring Ridge teens are encouraged
to participate - carolers will be meeting in the parking lot of Weis at
6 p.m. For further information call Alyssa Yackley at 301-663-0689
Fire Safety
Tips
With winter months upon us along with an increased use of candles, fireplaces
and heaters, remember these tips. Check smoke detectors regularly and
have fire extinguishers that work for a variety of fires available.
1. Have your homes
wiring checked to make sure it meets current building codes.
2. Check all appliances and extension cords for frayed or exposed wires.
Do not overload sockets!
3. Clean and service heating systems and furnaces annually. Neglect can
lead to poor ventilation or deteriorating wires.
4. Space heaters should never be used as a primary source of heat. Do
not leave them in doorways or stairways. Keep away from combustible items.
Do not add fuel to a heater that is still on or hot.
5. UNPLUG heat_producing appliances that are not in use, such as toasters,
kettles, space heaters, etc.
6. Consider installing an approved spark arrester on your chimney, this
will prevent sparks from escaping and starting a fire on your roof or
on a neighbor's property.
Snow Will
Soon Be Here
Single Family Homes: All streets are maintained and plowed by Frederick
County. All sidewalks in the single family neighborhoods are to be shoveled
by the homeowner.
Town Homes: The contractor will be clearing the parking lots. Here are
some of the snow removal guidelines for the 2002-2003 season. If total
snow and ice accumulation is 2-4", the contractor is to begin plowing
only after 2" has actually accumulated on the roadways. Chemical
application will begin with the parking areas and private roads, followed
by common sidewalks and entrances. It is the owner’s responsibility
to shovel their parking space.
For Your
Child’s Safety
Management has had several complaints of children playing in the streets.
Parents, please talk with your children about the dangers of playing in
unsafe areas. There are many areas throughout Spring Ridge designated
for children’s recreation.
