POOL NEWS
The Pool Committee election results are as follows:
Chairperson: Donna
Keys
Vice-Chairperson: Bonnie High
Secretary/Treasurer: Karen Loque
The committee thanks
these ladies for volunteering their time and efforts. And a HUGE thank
you to Kathy Sheehy for all of her years of service. She will remain on
the committee and continue to volunteer her time, as well as Roz Mansouri
and Jonette Stupke. If you are interested in joining this energetic group,
please call the Visitor Center and speak with Kelly Blundell or come to
the next pool meeting on February 4, 2002. All meetings are held the first
Monday of the month in the Visitor Center at 7:00pm.
Swim lessons will
be held at the pool again this year for any resident interested in learning
to swim. Please sign up at the visitor center. The Century Pool coordinator
will call you prior to the start of the lessons.
The Board of Directors
have approved a pool pass system that will allow residents to have a permanent
pool pass. The passes will look just like a credit card and will continue
to be collected at the gate upon entering. In order to make the children's
passes permanent PMP is in need of every child's birth date. Please look
for an upcoming postcard stamped "Pool Pass Information." If this is not
filled out and returned with your children's birth date, we will not be
able to print your pool pass. Don't forget you must be current on your
association dues or you will not be allowed access to the pool.
SOMEONE'S LURKING
AROUND AND IT'S NOT CUPID
As we walk through our neighborhood, we are able to see it is nice and
quiet. We meet and greet wonderful people who are warm and friendly. It
is easy to feel a sense of security so we become relaxed. Often our car
doors and garages are left open at night. Please remember that there have
been unpleasant incidents regarding vandalism to a few homes and vehicles
in Spring Ridge. As neighbors who watch out for each other, we can stop
unpleasant incidents before they occur. Please report any illegal suspicious
activities to your local police.
GREAT DECISIONS
Want to beat the February - March doldrums and meet an interesting group
of your neighbors? Curious about the implications of major foreign policy
actions now underway? Now you can explore issues and meet new friends
at the same time by joining the Great Decisions discussion group now beginning
its third year in Spring Ridge. The Great Decisions program has been sponsored
since 1914 by the bipartisan Foreign Policy Association (FPA) to stimulate
interest in major international issues and to help pass on the informed
views of individual citizens to government leaders. This year, the Spring
Ridge discussion group will meet weekly, each Thursday at 7:30pm, for
eight weeks beginning February 7th at the home of Joe and Ginger Ward,
6358 Claridge Dr. North. Each session will be about two hours long and
will focus on a single topic. Participants will read background material
provided by the FPA in advance, and after the discussion a straw poll
will be taken with the results passed on the FPA. The combined national
results will then be taken with the results passed on to the FPA. The
combined national results will then be forwarded by the FPA to our leaders
in Washington. If you want to flex your citizenship wings and meet interesting
neighbors, call Joe or Ginger Ward at (301) 668-0761 for more information.
IF FED EX AND U.P.S.
WERE TO MERGE, WOULD THEY CALL IT... FED UP?
That is a question to ponder, but since we're on the subject.... several
residents that are FED UP with certain issues that are being ignored by
some homeowners. They are fed up with the way some common areas look and
the cost to clean it up. Even though there have been SEVERAL articles
regarding pet waste and cigarette butts, there is still no improvement.
Pet owners: PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR "BEST FRIEND(S)!" Spring Ridge needs
to be kept beautiful by everyone. Pet waste is not the only concern, but
cigarette butts are just as unsightly not to mention dangerous. Smokers:
PLEASE DISPOSE OF YOUR CIGARETTE BUTTS PROPERLY. For those of you who
do own pets and those who are smokers that abide to these simple requests,
WE ALL thank you.
CONSERVANCY BOARD
OF DIRECTORS CORNER
1. The Board approved the rejuvenational pruning of the shrubbery on the
Spring Ridge Parkway entrance. This will be a radical trimming of the
bushes and shrubs AND will look very stark, UNTIL the spring. This dramatic
removal is necessary to maintain the health of the plants and contribute
to the professional landscaped appearance.
2. Thanks to the many
residents who took advantage of the Christmas tree drop off points, to
recycle the Christmas trees to mulch.
3. You should have
received your 2002 Spring Ridge Directory by now. We appreciate your comments
on how we can improve this community resource.
4. The board has approved
the purchase of an Identacard System which will be used for PERMANENT
pool passes. Look for more information on this, in the following months.
5. The resolution
presented in December, regarding the collection of an administrative resale
fee was approved. This contribution obtained on the resale of property
in Spring Ridge, will be used for the operating budget.
6. Thanks to those
who volunteered to serve on the Infrastructure Committee of Spring Ridge.
The Board will be contacting you regarding the first meeting of this new
committee.
