Pond Work
As mentioned in the April issue of the "Spring Ridge Review" the pond work near the soccer field is on the way. Basin Area E is having work done some time around July 8th. To accomplish this, the construction equipment will be staged near the excavation site. The developer will begin to mark this area, so the residents will need to find alternate parking during the excavation.

Architectural Control Committee
Please remember to submit your architectural change application by Friday, July 5th before 4:30pm. The next meeting is July 10th at 7:00 P.M. in the Visitor Center. Applications are available at the Visitor Center or on the web site at www.springridgeonline.com.

FedEx Drop-Off Box
For your convenience, there is a FedEx drop-off box that may be used by the residents. The box is located on the south side of the professional buildings between the 2 buildings on the far side of the parking lot.

Conservancy Board of Directors Meeting
The next meeting of the Conservancy Board of Directors is July 16, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. in the Visitor Center.

The Board of Directors Corner

1) The Pool Season is now in full swing. Please note the calendar posted by the entrance of the pool and the suggestion box. The pool opening will be delayed on the following Saturdays due to home swim meets: July 6th and July 27th.

2) The Board encourages pool patrons to bike to the pool if you can, this will help with the parking problem at peak hours. See the amended pool rules in this newsletter. The Board felt these revisions were necessary to clarify the present rules and procedures.

3) Thanks to those who volunteered in June on the Architectural Change Committee, your presence is much appreciated. One other very essential but less visible committee in Spring Ridge is the Finance Committee. If your background is finance or this is an interest of yours and would like to serve on this committee, please contact Richard Gemmell at the Visitors Center.

4) There is a new tenant in the Visitors Center. Conifer Realty, Inc., builder of the Senior Citizens Apartments, will have a temporary office in the Visitor Center for approximately three months. For information regarding the apartments please call 301-620-2620.

For Your Convenience: Remember the "Drop Slot" at the Visitor Center
Whether we are open in the center or not you can always drop off an ACC application, letter to the board, or an event application, etc... The "drop slot" is installed in the outer left door at the bottom. Please no "dues" payment.

Our hours at the Visitor Center are as follows: M - F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the doors open to the public at 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. Remember you can always communicate with us, by using the "drop slot", or e-mail..

Pole Lights
If you notice a street light out anywhere in the community, look for the 6 digit ID number on the pole. The number is approximately 6' from the ground. Once you have the number call the management office at 301-620-0782 and let us know where the pole is and the ID number. We will send in a work request to Allegheny Power.

Ponds, Safety and Your Children
Spring Ridge has various ponds on the property, both dry and wet. These ponds do not have any type of safety fencing around them and can be very dangerous for children. Some children get too close to the water's edge and lose their balance in the soft earth. Others wade in shallow water and fall into deeper holes. However, lack of close supervision, underestimating a child's curiosity, and adults overestimating a child's sense of judgment all contribute to accidents. Even though a child verbally acknowledges a warning or caution, it does not mean that he/she understands the hazard or risk, or will behave appropriately. The short attention span of a child, plus the attractiveness of the water as a play area, render most verbal instructions ineffective. An adult supervisor should never lose eye contact with a child playing, especially around the Spring Ridge ponds.

Rain, Rain ... DON'T Go Away!
According to Frederick, we are still in a level one mandatory water use restriction even after all the recent rains. A drought emergency has been declared for the Frederick area. This means that you are prohibited from watering your grass, washing your vehicle, or washing paved surfaces. For more information you may want to check out the Maryland Department of the Environment's website at www.mde.state.md.us.

Dog and Cat Licenses
Frederick County requires all cats and dogs to be licensed. For your convenience you may purchase your dog/cat license at the management office.

SHARK NEWS
Many of you have noticed the recent activity at the pool. No need to be alarmed though, it's just the Spring Ridge Sharks in a full blown feeding frenzy! The season is now in full swing and this year's competitors are training hard. Our first meet against Braddock Heights was a win, 356-214! They were great opponents and have some great swimmers! Our Head Coach Megan Marshall, her brother Ben, Emily Basford and Ashley Demeza are all doing a great job with our swimmers! We also appreciate our community's support and to those of you who came early to the pool to cheer us on!

Our next home meet will be Saturday, July 6th. The pool will open for swimming after the meet is finished. Spring Ridge is fortunate to have such a large pool. The other teams of Frederick in our Division can not host Divisionals and asked us if we could. Saturday, July 27th is when we will be hosting Divisionals. The pool will be closed until 1:30pm. Again, we thank our community friends for supporting all these hard working swimmers!

We have 156 swimmers representing our community this year (a new record) and I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication in your endeavors. Congratulations on making the team!

Our Pasta Picture Night was a big success and we hope that everyone went home full. A special thanks goes to the Chair, Shani Roeder, and all of her helpers who worked so hard to make it a success! Dan Whelan took our team picture and we thank him for taking all of those individual photos too! We chose our team song and found a name for our shark mascot that night. He will be known now and forever as "Chomper"! Go Sharks!!

Our swimmers took white T-shirts and tye-dyed them red and blue for a patriotic team spirit! Thanks to Judy Riley for chairing and to all of her helpers. The swimmers love wearing these "special spirit shirts" all season long
