Spring Ridge
Review Newsletter The Board welcomes Karen Ritter as it's newest member, serving out the term of Ed McManus who had resigned from the Board. The term will expire November 2006. Thanks to all those who volunteered to serve on the Home Owner's Board, we appreciate your willingness to donate your time to our community. Residents are reminded that the common areas are not dumping grounds for yard waste. Every Wednesday, April through the end of November only, yard waste is picked up by a waste disposal company in Spring Ridge. The Board has now heard preliminary annexation presentations from both the Baer and Beshers properties. We will keep Spring Ridge residents informed about the progress ofrequests to rezone and any other public hearings at the Spring Ridge website. Please pass all items dealing with the security of the community to Lise O'Connell, chairperson of the Neighborhood Watch Association. Under consideration is the rezoning of the Bare/Nusbaum property, a parcel of land just north of I-70 between the terminus of Newport Dr. West and Newport Dr. East . Townhouse development is proposed for this property. Also under consideration is the rezoning of the Beshers property located off the terminus of Dresden Place and behind some homes on a portion of Spring Forest Drive and Saddlebrook Lane . Single family homes are proposed to be constructed on this property. A request to connect Quinn Road to Eaglehead Drive was not recommended by the planning commission but could be reconsidered by the commissioners. This road connection could create traffic impacts for property owners near Quinn Road . In addition, 13,000 to 15,000 new residential housing units are proposed for the region which will have impacts to local schools and traffic. Public comment is welcome on these properties and all other proposed changes to the region plan. Additional information on the New Market Region Plan can be obtained by contacting Tim Goodfellow in the Frederick County Planning Department at 301-694-2508 or at tgoodfellow@fredco-md.net . Pool Committee News Comparing a theatrical production to our pool opening we can safely say, “The curtain is up and all the ‘backstage' elements of the pool show season are successfully in place.” There are rave reviews and SRO (Standing Room Only). June 5 th , Sunday was especially well attended. Comments from returning guards attested that they never remember such a huge turnout at our pools. The following are highlights, or as we call them “mini minutes” of the Pool Committee Meeting which took place on June 7 th : Century Management reported that there was a very productive lifeguard orientation. There's a new Health Department issue in place at Spring Ridge Pools requiring a lifeguard to be stationed in the baby pool. Updated pool events calendar and pool evaluation form to be placed on the website in the near future. Don't forget we now have water volleyball equipment. If any group wants to play, consult one of the lifeguards and he/she will set it up providing the lap pool is available. Water Aerobics began on June 13 th , and so far it's a success! Photos and names of all lifeguards are displayed on the message board at the pool. Vinyl-coated, colorful pool event banner to be hung on pool fence before special events. Parking - We must insist upon your cooperation! Parking in front of the Visitor Center is prohibited Mon.-Fri. unless you have business there. Please comply. Reminder - Our lifeguards are there to insure a safe and happy time. They work very hard, and the tasks are far from easy. Please don't make their jobs more difficult. Clean up any trash you have created and see to it that your friends and relatives do the same. Be pleasant to the guards. Parents - We are encouraging Century to enforce the pool rules. In order to keep the age at 11 yrs. old to be allowed in the pool with-out an adult, children must follow the rules and respect the guards. Parents, please talk with your kids, and REMIND them to know and FOLLOW the rules. Another note: Pool Furniture is not Cheap, please don't allow your children to jump or stand on the furniture. Lifeguard Appreciation Day - Saturday, August 6 th . What can the community (YOU) do to thank the guards' Please email in your ideas. Too Much Sun? But you still want to enjoy the atmosphere.
