A few things are planned this year for repair and or replacement. Two playgrounds will be replaced this summer. One is on Ridgefield Circle and the other is on Flagstone Court . The chainlink fencing and gates have been repaired at the pool area and the tennis courts. The exterior of the Visitor Center has been painted along with the deck. It has been several years since it's last painting and it really looks great now. The 3 tennis courts will be color coated. They are not slatted for resurfacing yet but color coating will not only make them look fresh but it will level out some of the ponding areas. We are also planning to resolve the serious erosion and drainage problems behind the piano pool, in the wooded area just north of the fence. We are going to remedy the washing-out of the asphalt path and wooden walk bridge in that area. (PFC) Pool Food Concession Committee The newly formed PFC Committee met for the first time on May 24 th . The committee will be exploring the option for creating a food concession stand at the pool area. They have been chartered to present a full package of construction ideas and vendor options for the Board to make a decision at the annual meeting in November 2005. If approved, Spring Ridge may have it's very own food concession stand for 2006. Baer Property Many townhouse owners have inquired about the newly annexed Baer property. The site is located near I70 where the pine trees are, between Newport Drive East and West. Representatives will be attending the next Board meeting on June 14 th at 7 p.m. to make a presentation to the Board of Directors. Sharks Swim Team News Swim team - it's just around the corner... The Sharks would like to take this opportunity to introduce to our swimmers and parents, our 2005 coaches: Head Coach: Audrey Wells Assistant Coaches: Veronica “Roni” Nasuti, Karen Younkins, Lisa Carr, Dan Munger, and Ryan Murphy In order to improve our swimmer-to-coach ratio this year, the Sharks have added additional coaching staff. This will allow the coaches to spend more time with the individual swimmers. All members of the coaching staff are Spring Ridge residents and/or former Sharks swimmers. Please join the Sharks Swim Team Committee in welcoming our 2005 coaching staff; we wish them and the team “Good Luck” and much success for the up-coming season. GOOD NEWS: If you haven't registered for the Spring Ridge Sharks Swim Team yet, there's still plenty of time. The cut-off date for joining the Spring Ridge Sharks is Friday, June 10 th ! If you can't find your application from the May newsletter, there are plenty of applications at the Visitor Center. If they are out, you can email SCARRGO2@aol.com to receive an electronic version. Completed applications must contain a “Swimmer Registration” form and the “Parent Volunteer” form along with your check in a sealed envelope. Drop off at the Visitor Center during standard business hours (11am-5pm, Monday-Friday) or after hours using the drop box. All applications must be received on or before June 10 th . If you have recently submitted a registration form that did not include the “Parent Volunteer” form, please contact the email address above to have the Parent Volunteer form sent to you or stop by the Visitor Center and pick one up. Our parent volunteers are the backbone of the team! It is vital that all swimmer's parents help at our meets (both home and away). The meets and other fun activities can't take place without dedicated volunteer support. We have just two home meets this year. PLEASE VOLUNTEER: The Sharks still need people to volunteer for Stroke and Turn Judging. Stroke and Turn Judges are certified by attending a two hour FSSL Clinic prior to the beginning of the season. Judges will learn the rules set by the FSSL and apply them consistently. They are responsible for watching all dives, turns, strokes, and finishes for each heat/event. There is a class Sunday, June 12 th from 2:30-4:30pm at the YMCA. New Officials Training: June 12 th at the Frederick YMCA (Mercer Bldg.) from 2:30-4:30pm . Your ideas on ways to show our appreciation are welcomed. Please email us at springridgepool@adelphia.net with your ideas and comments. PRIZES FOR POOL PARTIES - We have a limited number of businesses in Spring Ridge, and they have been extremely generous over the years in donating wonderful prizes for our functions at the pool. They also come through for the Recreation Committee and their functions. In an effort NOT to exhaust these establishments, we are now seeking your help with this. How? Perhaps you are a business owner or work for a company that would find it mutually beneficial to donate your product or monetary instrument for prizes for our pool events. If you can do this, please notify the committee at our Spring Ridge Pool email address. Thanks in advance. SWIMMING LESSONS 2005 - See attached information in this newsletter. SHARKEY”S ETIQUETTE AND TIPS: Support your lifeguards and SR Pool Rules. Any questions, problems or concerns should be taken to the manager on duty.
