Review Newsletter Board of Director’s Corner Thanks to all the residents who braved the rain and turned out for the ground breaking of the new fire station. This will be a much needed addition to our community. Volunteers will be needed to man this station both for emergency response and administrative duties. Whether you can spare a few hours or many hours of your time, all levels of volunteer support will be needed. So let’s show our community spirit and make the Spring Ridge Fire Station the best in Frederick County! Applications are available at the Visitor Center. The Board has approved the replacement of many of the dead and/or damaged trees and shrubbery on the property. ValleyCrest, our landscape company, will be putting in the new plantings shortly. Both PMP and the Board are aware of several problem areas with the present landscaper. PMP will be meeting with the management team of ValleyCrest to solve them. Please note the announcement of the Spring Ridge Conservancy Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 2nd, AND the instructions to cast your ballot. Please note, any ballots sent to PMP with proxy granted to the Managing Agent-PMP will be counted for quorum only, the ballots will not be counted in the election. For your vote to count, you must sign your proxy over to a homeowner or a Board Member. Residents who do not plan to attend the Annual Meeting but who want the votes on their ballot to count in the election must grant their proxy to a Spring Ridge Homeowner or Board Member who will be present at the meeting. Any homeowners who already submitted their ballots and granted a proxy to PMP or submitted a ballot without a proxy to PMP, who want their votes to count in the election, should contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782. Other partipating products are Ziploc, Kleenex, Betty Crocker, Hamburger Helper, Old El Paso, Yoplait, and Nature Valley. SRES uses the money for their technology program. Neighborhood Watch News November 2006 Hello Spring Ridge, by now everyone should be thinking about how much food one can eat in one day, the day known as Thanksgiving Day. It has been very quiet in the community, I am assuming, due to the children being back at school and families back in the grind of life. There are just a couple things I would like to touch on this month. First, although, the weather is turning cold, it has not gotten cold enough to kill off the ticks around our neighborhood. One of our neighbors informed me his wife had recently contracted Lyme Disease from a tick she picked up while working in her garden. If left untreated, the Lyme Disease infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. If you would like to know more about ticks and Lyme Disease, check out the Center for Disease Control’s write-up at http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/index.htm. Lastly, 2 off-road motorcycles were stolen off a trailer in a driveway on Brookhaven Drive the evening of Saturday October 21st. One was a green Kawasaki 125cc and the other was a yellow Suzuki 125cc. The green bike had the number 85 on the front and sides; the yellow bike had the number 199 on the front and sides. If anyone has any information, please contact the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department at 301-694-2071. Everyone have a great Thanksgiving! Clay Townshend FAN Club News We don’t want you to miss our monthly meeting of FAN Club at the Visitor Center on Wednesday, November 15th at 7pm. All Spring Ridge residents are invited to develop their local cultural savvies about Frederick, past and present. Mr. Mark Hudson, Executive Director of the Historical Society of Frederick will not only educate, but also interestingly welcome us as Fredericktonians, which of course we all are now. We will get to sing “key” songs, indulge in dazzling repartee, hear about dinosaurs of Frederick, capture the trials and tribulations of the Civil War era in Frederick, plus enjoy mouth-watering refreshments. Mr. Hudson will also inspire us with tales of our city that only an “in” person such as himself can muster. Be prepared to be enthralled this evening! If you missed the October 18th monthly meeting at the Visitor Center, the chances are good that you heard about it from one of your neighbors or overheard the praises bestowed upon our guest speaker when you were out and about the neighborhood. Yemi, the Nigerian-born, internationally know artiste, who now resides in Thurmont graced our space. He is now a thoroughly immersed artist who works with glass. He is the ONE who created all the glass designs in front of the Common Market off of Route 85. He also has on sale the “Jewels of Frederick” - ornaments of the Clustered Spires of Frederick which are exclusively being sold at Flights of Fancy. Yemi has distinguished Spring Ridge FANS with their own glass engraved ornament, complete with the Black Eyed Susan insignia, which is our logo. They are lovely, can be used on a holiday tree or displayed in your window. We found Yemi to be a gifted and talented person with a special passion for his art and an expressed love of Frederick. Holiday Party - All we can say now is keep the date of Wednesday, December 13th at 7:30pm reserved. The event will be catered by Dempsey Caterers and the evening will render itself to festive attire. We will have more information in the next Spring Ridge Review. A Very Exciting and Newsworthy Item - FAN Club is going to Adopt a Highway as its Community Outreach Project. Spring Ridge Parkway will be the focus of this, and Lynne Warburton is the one who gave birth to this very practical and good-spirited idea. We will let you in on more details soon. Thank you to the businesses listed below who generously donated prizes for the 2006 Community Pool Party: Continued from list printed in the October Newsletter Of course, we’d like to thank our own, Johannes Gross for once again providing the ideal music background by serving as D.J. We want to thank all the Spring Ridge residents for making the 2006 season so great. We are still seeking new committee members. We need your creativity and your enthusiasm. Please contact PMP in the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782 to join, come to the meetings which are posted on the marquee, or simply visit springridgepool@adelphia.net. Sharkey’s Tip - Sharkey wants you to have a fun-filled, healthy, and safe winter season. See you in 2007!
