Board of Directors Corner
Next Board Meeting - October 14, 2003

1. Thanks to those who volunteered; the Landscape Committee is up and running. The Board looks forward to the recommendations from this group.

2. There have been incidents of criminal activity within Spring Ridge. In an effort to increase the community awareness and to reenergize the Neighborhood Watch program, we have invited a representative from the County Sheriff’s Department to speak at the Annual Meeting in Novebmer. (See article on Page 3.)

3. The property annexation rights will be retained by the developer, Mr. Buchanan, until December 2004. This is the deadline for action on both the Baer and Busheers property, which border Spring Ridge and are being considered for annexation.

Conservancy’s Annual Meeting

Spring Ridge Conservancy’s Annual Meeting will be November 6th at the Elementary School. The Annual Meeting is a great thing to attend because all of the Committees and sub association Board members provide information about the past year’s activities. Also, this year an election is planned where 3 Board members will be elected. Please participate by casting your vote. Look for the Call for Nomination forms to be mailed out very soon. Please don’t be guilty of apathy. Voting just takes a few minutes! Thank you.

“Thank You” from the Red Cross

The American Red Cross would like to thank everyone that participated in the blood drive on September 8, 2003. They received a donation of 27 units; which was very close to their goal. Management would like to thank those who gave for your life-saving donation.

Note to all Residents

A jogger was recently flashed by a young male on the asphalt path near the pools in the wooded area. The Sheriff’s department was notified. For your safety, we recommend that you not walk in the more remote, wooded areas without a partner. Additionally, please report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s
Department and management.

Salvation Army Food Drive

Once again Spring Ridge is working with the Salvation Army this holiday season to provide non-perishable food for the hungry and needy in our area. The Salvation Army barrel will be located in the Visitor Center lobby. Drop off your non-perishable food between 11am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Please help out those less fortunate this holiday season.

Landscape Committee

Who has a green thumb? If you like getting your hands a little dirty, the landscape committee is for you. The committee is looking for volunteers who don’t mind putting their hands in the earth and helping with some flowers installations in the Spring and Fall. If this interests you, please contact Jane Garner at 301-662-0549.

Bicycles - Lost and Found

LOST. Dark green and black Diamondback bike lost/ borrowed this past summer. If you’ve found this bike, we’d love to have it back, no questions asked. Reward. Please call 301-698-1256.

Fireworks are Prohibited

The use of fireworks is prohibited within the community. We had an incident where some fireworks were used and they landed in a neighboring town home section where kids were playing. If you notice the use of fireworks, please contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782.

Pedestrian Safety Reminder

It has been brought to management’s attention that many vehicles have been parking in the public right-of-way. Vehicles should not park in such a manner as to impede the normal, safe flow of foot traffic. Forcing a pedestrian out into the street is never a good idea.

Tree and Lawn Waste Dumping

Over the past few months we have seen an increase in the dumping of branches, grass, trees, and other yard waste in the wooded common areas. The wooded areas around Spring Ridge are meant for the enjoyment of the residents, not for dumping. Cleaning the debris out of these areas takes money from Conservancy funds, which could lead to higher homeowner dues. Please help keep costs down and Spring Ridge clean, by not dumping in common areas.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

NEW NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM in the Spring Ridge community. A presentation will be made at our Annual Meeting in November. All homeowners are needed to attend for the program to work! Let’s make our community a safer place to live!

Lot Maintenance

This has been an especially good year in terms of rainfall, and as a result almost everyone’s lawn is green and lush. Unfortunately, it has also caused grass and weeds to grow at an accelerated rate. During a routine inspection, it was noted that there are many lawns in desperate need of mowing, and flowerbeds seriously requiring weeding. While summer may be coming to an end, the importance of lot maintenance is not. It is not expected that every home be picture perfect, though it is expected that everyone adhere to the rules and regulations of Spring Ridge. Keeping lawns mowed, flowerbeds weeded, and shutters and siding painted and in good repair, will keep property values up, and violation letters down. Also, it would be very helpful if residents would mow the strip of grass that separates the common area sidewalk from the road, as well as cut or pull the weeds that grow in the cracks between the road and the curb. Remember, Spring Ridge is a community and we all need to work together to make this a good place to live.
