Ridge Review Newsletter Board of
Directors Corner 1. Thanks to those who volunteered; the Landscape Committee is up and running. The Board looks forward to the recommendations from this group. 2. There have been incidents of criminal activity within Spring Ridge. In an effort to increase the community awareness and to reenergize the Neighborhood Watch program, we have invited a representative from the County Sheriff’s Department to speak at the Annual Meeting in Novebmer. (See article on Page 3.) 3. The property annexation rights will be retained by the developer, Mr. Buchanan, until December 2004. This is the deadline for action on both the Baer and Busheers property, which border Spring Ridge and are being considered for annexation. Conservancy’s Annual Meeting Spring Ridge Conservancy’s Annual Meeting will be November 6th at the Elementary School. The Annual Meeting is a great thing to attend because all of the Committees and sub association Board members provide information about the past year’s activities. Also, this year an election is planned where 3 Board members will be elected. Please participate by casting your vote. Look for the Call for Nomination forms to be mailed out very soon. Please don’t be guilty of apathy. Voting just takes a few minutes! Thank you. Motorcycle Riding Club Hello, my name is Scott Gahs. I’m trying to form a community-wide motorcycle riding club. It would be open to all bikers, all bikes. If you are interested or want more details, please email me at sgahs@attg.net. I hope to hear from you. Ride safe. flashed by a young male on the asphalt path near the pools in the wooded
area. The Sheriff’s department was notified. For your safety, we
recommend that you not walk in the more remote, wooded areas without a

Fireworks are Prohibited The use of fireworks is prohibited within the community. We had an incident where some fireworks were used and they landed in a neighboring town home section where kids were playing. If you notice the use of fireworks, please contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782. Pedestrian Safety Reminder It has been brought to management’s attention that many vehicles have been parking in the public right-of-way. Vehicles should not park in such a manner as to impede the normal, safe flow of foot traffic. Forcing a pedestrian out into the street is never a good idea. OAKDALE REC
CENTER There is still time to register for the following programs being offered this fall at the Oakdale Recreation Center. Gymboree - 8 weeks.
Ages 2-4years. Thursdays beginning October 2. Cost $56. Please call the Frederick County Dept. Of Parks and Recreation at 301-696-2936 or go to www.recreater.com for more info. Tree and Lawn Waste Dumping Over the past few
months we have seen an increase in the dumping of branches, grass, trees,
and other yard waste in the wooded common areas. The wooded areas around
Spring Ridge are meant for the enjoyment of the residents, not for dumping.
Cleaning the debris out of these areas takes money from Conservancy funds,
which could lead to higher homeowner dues. Please help keep costs down
and Spring Ridge clean, by not dumping in common areas. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH NEW NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM in the Spring Ridge community. A presentation will be made at our Annual Meeting in November. All homeowners are needed to attend for the program to work! Let’s make our community a safer place to live! 2004 SPRING RIDGE DIRECTORY The 2004 Spring Ridge Directory is under way. UPDATE FORM RESIDENT(S): CHILDREN: (Date of
Birth Optional) INDICATE DESIRE TO BE INCLUDED IN COMMUNITY HELPER SECTION (Must have listed #) Name:________________________
Age: _________Service(s): _____________________ Lot Maintenance This has been an especially good year in terms of rainfall, and as a result almost everyone’s lawn is green and lush. Unfortunately, it has also caused grass and weeds to grow at an accelerated rate. During a routine inspection, it was noted that there are many lawns in desperate need of mowing, and flowerbeds seriously requiring weeding. While summer may be coming to an end, the importance of lot maintenance is not. It is not expected that every home be picture perfect, though it is expected that everyone adhere to the rules and regulations of Spring Ridge. Keeping lawns mowed, flowerbeds weeded, and shutters and siding painted and in good repair, will keep property values up, and violation letters down. Also, it would be very helpful if residents would mow the strip of grass that separates the common area sidewalk from the road, as well as cut or pull the weeds that grow in the cracks between the road and the curb. Remember, Spring Ridge is a community and we all need to work together to make this a good place to live. Rec Committee News Start planning your costumes now! October 25th is the date for the Adult Halloween Party at Whiskey Creek Golf Club. Please check your mailbox in the coming weeks for a separate mailing with all of the details. The Rec Committee is looking for someone to play “Santa” for Santa’s Workshop on December 7th from 3-5pm at the Visitor Center. If you can help, please call Alison Stumpfig at 301-620-1904. Get a Taste of Frederick’s German Heritage The Spring Ridge FAN Club will honor Frederick’s German roots with an Octoberfest-style meeting on October 15th. It will feature Tom Flores, Brewmaster at Brewer’s Alley in downtown Frederick. He will provide beer tasting of their many brews and explain the brewing process. The meeting will take place at the Visitor Center at 7pm.
