They really look great and of course everyone should want them to stay that way for several years. Recently management has become aware that children are playing on the courts with skate boards, bikes and the like. The tennis courts are for tennis playing only. New signs will be installed to remind members of the community about this. The tennis courts will be watched and any members found damaging the new surfaces by riding skate board, bikes, trikes and the like will be subject to a fine. The resurfacing cost the association $8,900. Bring them to the FAN Social on October 16 th at 7pm at the Visitor Center and relive them with us. We're having a “Rah, Rah” Homecoming Social . Come and relive that phase of your life! Dress up in your high school or college fashions. Dig up those pom-poms and sweaters with letters from storage or just wear your school colors. While you're at it, take your yearbooks along too so we can see your alma mater. Brave souls can masquerade as their school's mascot if so inclined. Also, let us have a peak at your photo from high school or college. Our panel will have fun trying to guess who's who. If you want to, be prepared to yell a rousing cheer or sing your school song! No matter how many years ago you were in school, let's have fun traveling back to those times, no that we can really enjoy it! See you there! Pool Committee News The days are getting shorter and the 2005 Spring Ridge Pool season is drawing to a close. Century will be starting to get the pool ready for the winter as soon as that last swimmer leaves the pool. Guards will be cleaning, taking inventory and putting away furniture . The cover for the main pool will be going on before this newsletter even goes out ! How lucky we were as a community to once again have an extended swim season. The weather has been gorgeous these past couple weeks and hopefully Spring Ridge patrons have been taking advantage of the extra time poolside. It has been a wonderful pool season and we welcomed some fresh faces and new activities to the pool. Greg Courtois was the new Project Manager for Century pools, and there were several new guards joining the lifeguarding staff. Water Aerobics classes were introduced this year and what a hit!! They were well attended and received-so much so that several women could be seen going through their routines on their own in the lap pool even when class was not in session . The First Annual Lifeguard Appreciation Day was held on August 6 th , and a number of patrons expressed their gratitude with food-always a favorite with guards, and also other goodies and many, many compliments. The Pool Committee hopes to build on this day even more next year. Our lifeguards play many roles at the pool-lifesavers, instructors, coaches, first aid givers, teachers, referees, janitors, pool operators and much much more. They go through considerable time and expense to receive their training, and keep it current. It is a lot of responsibility that we place on their young shoulders. Let us try to show our appreciation every day of the season in 2006 !! The Pool Committee always welcomes input from Spring Ridge Pool patrons-it is your pool too, and the best way to improve the pool experience is for the community to work together with the pool staff, the pool committee and each other. Better yet, join the Pool Committee –we always welcome new members bringing fresh ideas! See you in the pool in 2006!! Correction to September 2005 newsletter - 2005 Lifeguard Appreciation Day - A donation of a cake and pizzas by a Spring Ridge family was omitted from last month's newsletter. Please join us for the next Pool Committee Meeting on Tuesday, October 11 th at 7pm in the Visitor Center . Pool Committee September Mini Minutes Century Pools Inc. will be starting to winterize the pool September 18 th , the last day of operation. This includes cleaning, inventorying and putting away furniture, and covering the main pool. Guard bonuses will be awarded based on performance. Guards will have a chance to complete a survey this year. Discussed possible party ideas for 2006. Pool Committee and the Sharks would like to donate tents to the Katrina Relief effort on behalf of the entire Spring Ridge community . Budget overview. Prioritized needs for future . Card reader heads the budget list. Proposed budget will be presented at Board Meeting on September 20, 2005 . Recreation Committee News Once again, the Recreation Committee would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with our Summer Concert Series. We would also like to thank Syed Ahmed (the ice cream man) for his financial contribution.
