Annual Meeting and Election

There is a reason why you like living here at Spring Ridge. But you may not think of the behind the scenes work and effort that is made to keep this community vibrant, a nice place to live and a great investment. There are many volunteers who donate their skills and time to keep the events of Spring Ridge on-going.

The Annual meeting for Spring Ridge is November 4th at the Spring Ridge Elementary School. At that time, there will be an election for 1 position opening on the Board of Directors. A “Call For Nomination” letter will be mailed to each owner soon. If you would like to get more involved in your HOA, now is the time to step forward.

Serving on the Board is rewarding because essentially you are “giving” back to your community. Come join the Board and really find out what is happening in your community. Please contact Richard Gemmell, Community Manager at 301-620-0782, if you are interested in finding out more about serving on the Board.

Directory Days Are Here Again!!

The 2005 Spring Ridge Directory is under way. Any NEW residents who wish to be included need to fill out the form on the last page of this newsletter. If you are already listed in the directory, but have changes, please notify management via e-mail at nadena.mg@pmpbiz.com or other written correspondence. NO CHANGES? Do nothing. However, those interested in keeping their name and phone number listed on the helper list must submit the form. The forms must be submitted by December 3, 2004, to be included. Residents/Businesses who are interested in advertising in the 2005 Directory should contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782 for more information.

For Those of You Who Like to “Crunch” Numbers:

Because of a few committee members moving away, the finance committee has a few openings. These positions won’t last long so contact me soon.

The finance committee has been one of the most dynamic committees within Spring Ridge. The committee has been involved in the budget preparation process, reserve study analysis, review of monthly financial statements and even with the long term investment plans of the HOA’s reserve funds.

If you like numbers, and you want to serve on the committee, please contact Richard Gemmell at 301-620-0782 for more details.

Maturing Trees

Along with the beauty of the maturing trees within Spring Ridge, comes a few maintenance concerns that owners should be made aware of. As you know, many builders have the bad habit of installing cute little trees, usually Bradford Pears, at the corners of the homes. At the time of initial purchase these little trees are welcoming and certainly add to the aesthetics of the property and home. Unfortunately, many of these builder installed trees are now 25' tall, with branches bumping up against the houses. This can be hazardous to your home because the branches can scratch the siding and even more damagingly, they can hold moisture up against your house causing wood rot, and mildew. Look at the trees, and bushes for that matter, around your house and prune them back away from the house as soon as you get a chance.

Thank you, Sue Carr 301-695-0163 or SCARRGO2@aol.com.

September Pool Committee News

! Community Pool Party - We didn’t have to resort to a rain date for the August Community Pool Party, as the weather was sunny and hot. The event was a huge success with the D.J., games, a 50/50 raffle where $150 yield was divided by a winning homeowner, and lifeguards, many useful prizes, and just old fashioned fun. Someone’s guest commented to me,”...where we live they don’t do these things. I think it’s so cool...”

Yes, these “things” are what differentiate our community and make it the desirable place where those moving
to Frederick seriously think about and act upon.

! Volleyball - We’re pleased to report that the hardware is in place for the volleyball program. The lap pool will be the setting for future volleyball activities. Lap swimmers - not to worry - the scheduling will satisfy all! Please attend our fall meetings to discuss the planning and scheduling of Water Volleyball in the Lap Pool.

! Water Aerobics - The survey that was distributed at the party showed that there’s an interest in having a Water Aerobics program in Spring Ridge. We on the Pool Committee are committed to making that a reality. Our first step is to ask now - “Is there anyone reading this who is certified in Water Aerobics who interested in leading such a program for next year?” or “Do you know anyone that you can refer to us?” If so, please contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782 or Rosalyn Mansouri at 301-694-1255.

! Teen Party - The Teen Party that took place on Friday, August 13th was not heavily attended. About 32 teens came, compared to the 110 teens who attended last year. We speculate the low attendance was due to the threat of inclement weather. Then again, it could have been the selected date of Friday the 13th! Those attending, however, seemed to have a terrific time listening to the latest music played by Dalles with Soundsations, swimming in the main pool, and winning cool raffle prizes.

It was nice to see a few new teens who had just moved into Spring Ridge being introduced to their peers by some very welcoming young adults. It will make their adjustment at their new school next week that much easier. What a great group of young people live here!!

Thank You - The Pool Committee would like to thank Spring Ridge Liquors for their donation of soda for the Teen Party.

! New Adult Only Pool Hours - Check out the New Adult Only Pool Hours during public school days (Please see the front page of this newsletter for the hours).

Join us For the next Pool Committee Meeting on Monday, September 13th at 7pm in the Visitor Center!
