Spring Ridge
Review Newsletter Board of Director's Corner As you may have noticed, bridge and road construction has begun to realign the Quinn Road bridge. This project is scheduled to be finished in November 2006. Residents are reminded that soliciting in Spring Ridge is not permitted. If you notice individuals going door to door, please call the Visitor Center , during their business hours. If this occurs after hours, on the weekend, or over a holiday, call the Frederick County Sheriff's office at 301-694-1046. Reminder that the Annual Meeting will be held on November 3 rd . The formal notification and announcement will follow. PMP confirmed that the upkeep of the single family road sidewalks are the HOA's responsibility, not the county's. Therefore, this maintenance cost will be included in the next reserve study. This will not immediately affect assessments. Residents are encouraged to complete the Pool Survey located on the Spring Ridge website. Requests for bids on operating a food concession stand at the Spring Ridge Pool for 2006 will be posted in the Frederick News Post and The Gazette. Management will contact Allegheny Power and they will make the repair. Thank You! The Parents and Swimmers of the Sharks would like to thank Johannes Gross for another great season! For lugging all his sound equipment around to make our meets mor enjoyable! To Beth Gross for hosting a fourth fun filled Banquet and to Gary Roeder for co-chairing the team with Johannes and keeping all our times and records straight! Thank You! Neighborhood Watch Kids are growing up and alot of them will be driving this coming school year. Take the time to go over the rules of need for speed and the privilege it is to have a drivers license! Be aware, we have a deputy in the neighborhood who when not on call has been parked on the Parkway and has caught several going in the 55's, believe it or not!!! At that kind of speed, we really do not want to see anyone in the neighborhood hurt due to a car going too fast! Also, know your car insurance policies. Do you really understand them? Put yourself in the drivers seat and know you and your children driving are well insured!! Why not ICE your cell phone?????? Type ICE in your cell address book with a name beside it so if there is an emergency and the Paramedics find your cell phone the EMT's will know who to contact to let them know where you are. We are hearing all sorts of kids being picked up by strangers and perhaps even people they think they know everywhere in the US! Communities just like ours! Take the time once again and go over those secret codes that families have instilled, so if someone happens to hit our neighborhood, just a re-reminder that the kids have already been told of this re-enforcement!!! Also, everywhere teen sex is on the rise. Youth drinking and drugs are among our culture. Take time to have them re-think every decision they are making and just say NO!!! Follow through with them on their where-abouts and let them know you will be checking! This is the best deterrent for making bad choices. Join us on Tuesday, October 25th at the Visitors Center for the next Neighborhood Watch meeting. Bring your comments and concerns. We'll hold another Community Conversation with Ms. Beth Mowery of the Frederick County Health Department. She will bring us up to date on the communication techniques when talking to our teenagers on the issues of sex. Please join us for this informational session. Block Captains are still needed. If interested, contact Lise O'Connell 301 698-1252 oconnell@xecu.net or Debbie Smith 301 662-6234 Smith2u4u@msn.com to be put on the confidential email list. With your support we can keep our neighborhood aware of what's happening...see you on the October 25th! Directory Days Are Here Again!! The 2006 Spring Ridge Directory is under way. Any NEW residents who wish to be included need to fill out the form in this newsletter. If you are already listed in the directory, but have changes, please notify management via e-mail at nadena.mg@pmpbiz.com or other written correspondence. NO CHANGES? Do nothing. However, those interested in keeping their name and phone number listed on the helper list must submit the form. The forms must be submitted by December 2, 2005 , to be included. Residents/Businesses who are interested in advertising in the 2006 Directory should contact the Visitor Center at 301-620-0782 for more information. Classifieds For Sale : Printer. Pool Committee News Community Pool Party - The August newsletter didn't have the entire list of local merchants who contributed lovely prizes that made our July 30 th party such a success. An additional “Thank You” is extended to: Celebree Children's Center for the children's grand prize of a $50 Savings Bond. Kelli Paugh of Longaberger Baskets for the very attractive serving tray. Dana Wilburn of Tastefully Simple for the gourmet delights, and Kim Shull for the exclusive jewelry. Sheetz, Burger King, and McDonalds for supplies for the party (ice from Sheetz, cups and drinks from the others.) On August 6 th , which was Lifeguard Appreciation Day, the guards were the recipients of toiletry baskets from Spring Ridge's Mary Kay Representative, Nelda Aro. This was much appreciated. P.M.P. and Century Pools also contributed to the effort of thanking our guards by supplying them with treats such as Gatorade, cake, and pizza. The Pool Committee used donations from the community collected at the Community Pool Party to purchase a Frozen Smoothie Bar for the guards to use. Equally appreciated by the guards was the outpouring of compliments from the many patrons of the Spring Ridge Pools. Remarks from Century Pool President and CEO - Century Pools President and CEO, Gene Kijowski, toured our facility and had this statement to make: “It was such a pleasure to visit the Spring Ridge Community on Sunday. The lifeguards were vigilantly manning their posts and the pools looked great. I was also struck by the many parents partnering with us, taking active responsibility for the safety of their children. We are grateful to serve, and to be a part of the Spring Ridge Community.” Teen Party - The waxing moon on the muggy night of August 12 th resembled a slice of an orange. It shone above the most successful Teen Party Spring Ridge has had. Approximately 120 young people gathered to hear “their” music played by D.J. Shannon Baker of Soundsations. These most well-behaved teens danced, swam, bantered, played ball, ate, and stood around the pool looking sensational. Two girls who were asked to comment about the evening echoed the sentiments of the majority by saying “Let's do this again, and SOON!!! To the parents who picked up their children, Thank You for all the wonderful praise for our volunteers at the Teen Party. It is fantastic to hear how you appreciated the efforts of keeping your children safe. The teens are so grateful for the night time swim experience. It is a pleasure for the Pool Committee to volunteer for this event. Mini Minutes of August 9 th Pool Committee Meeting: There has been a lot of broken furniture this season in need of repair. Twelve new umbrellas have been retrofitted and were made available. Communication between P.M.P. and lifeguards is above satisfactory. Broken shower head/holder in Women's Locker Room was replaced. Terri Kieft from the Finance Committee visited and advised on 2006 procedures. Sharkey's Etiquette Tip: If you have a suggestion for the pool operations, come to the Pool Committee Meeting on Tuesday, September 13 th at the 7pm in the Visitor Center . We need you!!
